Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) sponsorship of the Izivunguvungu MSC Foundation for Youth, which was started by South African Olympic sailor Ian Ainslie in 1997. The school, which is based in Simon’s town near Cape Town, focuses on teaching disadvantaged youths and street children life skills through sailing training.

South Africa, after a strong showing in the country’s first challenge at the America’s Cup, has submitted a second bid for the world’s premier sailing event in Geneva, Switzerland.
Team Shosholoza made a huge impact at the most recent edition of the America’s Cup, which ended earlier this year in Valencia, Spain. While the Swiss yacht, Team Alinghi, won sailing’s premier competition, it was the South African team that captured the hearts of spectators and the respect of their opposition.
