There are dozens and dozens of magnificent yachts in the harbour, yet only about seventeen or so are ever out racing together. Furthermore, most of them are laid up most of the time and very few are taken out. I wonder why?

A lot of people think it would be “cool” to do some sailing – so they invest a lot of money in a yacht – go sailing few times and they either suddenly find that they don’t particularly enjoy it - OR their partner gets seasick or she doesn’t like him spending so much time away from the family

So the “large investment” stays in the marina for months on end without being sailed
