I like to scan your monthly newsletter for house prices in Simonstown, as I intend purchasing a property somewhere between Fish Hoek and Simonstown within the next year. However the June newsletter has no access to your links.

Hi Harry. Thanks for comment. I want to start a blog on "Why South Africa Is A Great Place" and lots of my friends are encouraging me to do that. But as you may know a blog is hard work and I need friends to contribute good articles. You are invited ;-)

Spot on Johan, with your article about Where do you want to stay to be happy. I also think Simonstown is a great place but can not agree more with you that "if you are happy whith what you have, you'll be a happy person where ever you go. By the way, I stay in Randfontein and think this is also a great place. Makes one think don't it?

Hi Paul Thanks for comment. It's amazing that "WE" are willing to accept the status quo.

"We will not repaint the bus stop because it will again divide the community"
What a lot o Bull.

Looking at the poll, to date, only one decided that the penguin bus stop was not what he/she wanted.

Hey, I don't like the palm trees at Jubilee square, it doesn't mean that I can go and chop them down, even if some people do support me.
That's not democracy.
Anyway, the cowardly individual who did it still has not had the balls to admit it, even though everyone knows who he is. This shows that he knows it is wrong, even while he is trying to justify it!

Hi Nandi

This local had the "power." And he did what he did.

Today he is saying that that people who painted the bus stop did not follow procedure. He is justifying his action. That action that he took while the moon was dark. He is afraid to come out and say he did it. But he seems to gather confidence as some people support him.

He could not do this while everyone was watching, in contrast: while *innocent* kids were *defacing* a bus stop in daylight.

It's all about contradictions:

“The very contradictions in my life are in some ways signs of God's mercy to me.”

Thank You for that. Because I needed inspiration to try and answer "Why The Simon's Town Contradictions?"

According to Aristotle’s law of noncontradiction; “One cannot say of something that it is and that it is not in the same respect and at the same time.”

When you consider the above then you can take it and say that contradictions are the reason why we choose to come to this earth; because this choice gave us the opportunity to select from the contrast and choose between what we want and what we don't want. But what we want and don't want is a personal choice. This personal choice is dependent on the individual but sometimes the what we say and do is not in the "same respect and at the same time."

I must be honest with you that what I wrote here is way above my normal reasoning and I need to explain it using examples of Simon's Town contradictions that baffle my mind. So if you lost me, as I lost myself then the examples may help. Please note that I am not trying to choose sides other than showing the contradictions:

The famous bus stop at Boulders Beach was decorated with colourful penguins after permission was given. But then some courage's simon's town knight decided to paint the bus stop white, while the moon was dark. Today the issue is reduced to a hassle. For example, why should the Civic Association consider paying money to re-decorate it? Why should the bus stop be an issue because it's not even an entry to Simon's Town. Apparently this bus stop painting was an advertisement, it was new age and not in keeping with with the Simon's Town image. Image? Who decides on the Simon's Town image?

Even if the panel beater had a right to do business where it does; right at the entrance to Simon's Town proper, why is this building tolerated and not a bus stop with penguins?

We have investors who are building large and controversial apartments on Seaforth Beach. But we also have investors, rate paying investors and residents of Simon's Town who followed the legal process to invest and today they are now bogged down with legalise. This is been going on for years now.

There are many more contradictions but that's the part of life: We are given the opportunity to choose what we like and what we don't like. And this individual choose to be aggravated by a painted bus stop.

Hi Nicky. Yes. I know you have THE six sense. You have the *smell* and we are privileged to have met you. Be good. And continue to look out for friends.
By the way: We had to go and buy another box of wine today. And it's all due to the wine (or is it your book) club ;-).
Have fun.

Dear Johan and Elmarie, While some people have a nose for smelling really good wines, I have a good nose for sniffing out really great people. So happy to have met and welcomed you to Simonstown. Regards, Nicky
