  Navy Fleet Review Program of events for the day are as follows:

Unconfirmed: I have heard that one lane will be closed between Glen Cairn Simon’s Town from 07:00.
The Presidential Fleet Review will be broadcast on Navy FM on 05 September 2008 from 07:00-16:00.  Navy FM will be broadcast on 103.2MHz during the review and listeners from as far as Muizenberg will be kept updated on all the detail of the review as well as news, weather and interesting commentary of the day’s events.

Guests Arrive at Cole Point Gate (Main Entrance to Dockyard)

SA sub in record sinking

Ok. We all know this is a Simon’s Town home owners blog focusing on real estate but this is a funny story.

One of South Africa’s controversial new submarines, the SS Constitution, has broken the record for the deepest dive after its novice crew accidentally sank the vessel and wedged it into a seabed canyon in the South Atlantic. The navy has confirmed that the crew are "elated and will savour the achievement until the batteries and tinned food run out".

The submarine was named after the South African constitution earlier this year, after the navy asked the ANC’s National Executive Council to "suggest names that might represent something in South Africa’s recent history that has disappeared without a ripple".
