We Want That We Don’t Want That

The other day I read that we are born in this world with contrasts – contrast of things we want and things we do not want. And I thought what an opportunity to live in South Africa. What an opportunity to be able to live in Simon’s Town. But even in this beautiful town we are confronted with contrasts.
As soon as the sea becomes as calm as a dam we want that. As soon as we need wind for our yachts we want that. When we drive up Red Hill for the amazing Simon’s Town view we want that.
And I believe it’s this contrast that forces us to appreciate the great things we have in Simon’s Town so much more.
Our ward councilor, Nicki Holderness, asked the Simon’s Town Civic Association to come up with a list of things we want improved in Simon’s Town. And we had to think of things we want and things we do not want. I want to share this list (poll) with you and make it available to you to add your “wants”.
During March the Navy will again entertain us with their festival (we want this). From Parades to a Dock Concert to Naval activities. Get more information about the activities on 14, 15 and 16 March from Arne Soderlund here.
After the Argus Cycle Tour we will be confronted with the upgrade of Main Road. We don’t want the hassles of construction but we do want a nice new road. You can get more info here.
Allow me to thank YOU and you for all the contrasts. May we continue to want - and focus more on the things we want.
Have fun.
