Thanks for visiting!

Eventually it’s summer in Simon’s Town and the swallows are moving in. Winter was long and wet. Then it changed to the Southeaster. Can you believe it; our house is still in one piece. And then, one day, as we woke there’s nothing but the quiet comforting sun. What a relieve…. its summer.

How long will it last? Liz Danks said it will be summer until May. Set your clocks. We did not discuss the Southeaster because we did not want to spoil the special sunny day.

Sun! Yes! We’ll go down to the beach. It’s ten in the morning and we’ll get the spot. Will it be Boulders? Yes. But the road and the beach are closed. It’s packed with GP cars. This is the time for the swallows and others. As we travel along the road more and more people do what we do; search for a place in the sun.

Ok. We know where we are going… The view is not new to us. But the new arrivals slow any quick plans. They need to take it all in. This amazing place we live in needs time to get used to. What a contradiction: can you ever get used to Simon’s Town? Slow down, it’s summer.

But the wind. We feel so lonely. What happened to the wind? It’s gone. Thanks for small mercies.

Back at home we need a hairdryer to get the charcoal to glow. We miss the wind. Who said that?

As the friends arrive they bring uninvited family along because they have never seen a view like we have in Simon’s Town. And we accept. This is a time for friends, family and swallows. They watch the sailing boats, dotting the horizon with their large sails, trying in vain to catch the breeze. Sorry guys this is not a sailing day.

Family and friends and not such close friends phone to tell that they will come and see us. Interesting. We always thought we were ok, but not as popular as the visitors make us believe. Is it us or is it where we live?

We’ll it is a time for giving and a time to slow down and contemplate. It’s a time when many people feel lonely. It’s a time when we tend to ask questions about the future. It’s a time when we want to share love but more importantly want to be loved.

I want to thank you all for reading my ramblings during the last few months. For those I may have offended please forgive me. As a token of appreciation I searched for a small gift to share with you from my box of tools.

My gift to you is a free anti-virus program.

This program is one of the best on the internet and I cannot believe it’s free. This is what one of my guru internet friends had to say about the program:  “About a month ago I started searching for a strong anti-virus program, and in scanning many articles, one program was mentioned over and over as being the best. It was AVG from grisoft.  As it turns out, this ‘best anti-virus’ program was available for free (no strings attached), and had all the features of the more expensive commercial anti-virus programs.”  You can download the free program on the right of this page. Click here.

May you have fun in the Simon’s Town sun
