When I tell you that Simon’s Town is a relatively safe place with a stable safety record over the last 5 years will you agree with me? It’s when we consider incidents in isolation we experience the relative safety differently.
Although we have incidents, some unfortunate as we recently had, I am not oblivious to the impact of these, please forgive me, but I am not writing to discuss the specifics.
I am writing to share good news with you and I want us to focus on the positive and share the positive. I want to repeat the good news, “Simon’s Town is a relatively safe place with a 5 year record to prove it.” Get your copy of the facts here: www.saps.gov.za
The 5 year category report from the Simon’s Town SAPS indicates a very stable safety record. You may also note that some categories even decreased over the last 5 years. Some were high, reduced and are higher again today but is this apparent trend within the norm? I have no reason to believe that it’s not.
Why am I sharing this letter with you?
Many Simon’s Towners mentioned to me that our safety has recently been compromised and yes it seems that way when we look at the incidents in isolation. But when I consider the facts and trends over time I quickly realize how privileged we are.
