The March 2007 residential sales figures from RPPR show that Simon’s Town is by far the most popular residential area for buyers outside of the Western Cape . Of the R17.54 million
invested by these outsiders in the False Bay area 53% was invested in Simon’s Town, Fish Hoek was second with only 23%. Click on the graph to enlarge it.

To find our ideal home we started at Yzerfontein, on the West Coast, looked at some lovely homes along the coast and ended in Simon’s Town where we decided to buy. We now know that many other out-of-towners do the same. Simon’s Town has the view, the history, a dog called Just Nuisance, the penguins and a romantic village feel to it.
Of all the residential properties sold in Simon’s Town, during March 2007, 63% was bought by outsiders. Most of these were by Gautengers and buyers from the UK, at 52% and 34% respectively. It’s interesting to note that although Simon’s Town comprises only 15% of the total False Bay residential property market the majority of the foreign money was spend in Simon’s Town.

Another statistic to support the popularity of Simon’s Town is the premium of 27% that buyers are willing to pay for full title homes in Simon’s Town. During March 2007 the average selling
price in Simon’s Town was R1.854 million compared to R1.465 million for the entire False Bay area.
Today, I advise people to rather buy smaller in Simon’s Town as they will get more than their money back. We all know the best property investment criterion is location. In the False Bay area Simon’s Town is The Location Of Choice.
